Weekly notes related to explorations, workout and family
Explorations
I have been playing around with two frontier models - OpenAI GPT-4o and Claude Sonnet 3.5. Nothing scientific about my evaluation but I have found GPT-4o doing better for marketing copy, explainers while Sonnet 3.5 works much better for deterministic tasks like technical docs and code. There are subtle differences between zero-shot usage where Claude outperforms and prompt-based use-cases where I feel OpenAI has a slight edge. The default API limit trade-offs are also a bit different with Claude supporting 2x higher context windows while the max output tokens are 4x higher in case of Sonnet 3.5.
Family
A month to go to Ibhan’s b’day, and we have already started planning. Birthday celebrations need a level of preparation and lead to a bit of anticipation as the week comes close. We also will be having a few close relatives who will be staying with us over the coming week - I’m looking forward to it.
Workout
Kept the momentum with respect to 10K steps and morning swimming drills to learn freestyle. Getting comfortable with kicks and freestyle breathing. I’m simply focussing on the basic drills for now. Hoping to build from basics to laps organically - this is my 3 attempt at freestyle.
