Mona’s first mixed-doubles tournament, a comforting stop at The Madras Cafe, and a strong week of steps, yoga, and resistance training.

Family & Friends

Mona took part in a mixed-doubles tournament this weekend. It was her first one, so Ibhan and I made sure we were there to cheer for her.

The games moved quickly because the league stage format was a single game instead of three games to 21 points. That gave very little time to evaluate opponents, and most matches were over before teams could adjust. She lost all her league games, but the competition was genuinely strong.

On the way back, we stopped at The Madras Cafe and had soft idlis, dosas with chutneys, and excellent boiler tea. Looking back, it felt like a good outing for Ibhan too, because he got to see us struggle in sport and normalize losing.

Workout

Overall, it was a good week. I clocked ~10k steps/day on average, completed 4 days of resistance training, and did 3 morning Ashtanga Yoga sessions. I intend to keep resistance training around 3-4 sessions/week over the next few months, while maintaining protein intake in the 1.6-2g/kg body weight range.
