Playing more with OpenAI Codex, Ibhan’s first inter-school chess tournament, and a week balancing gym, yoga, and GPL practice.
Explorations
I’ve been using OpenAI Codex quite a bit recently to keep up with the pace of new development. One thing I noticed quickly is how well it manages context. Even on the $20 plan, I rarely run into context limits or compaction issues.
I haven’t done deep comparisons yet on extremely complex project requirements, so this is still more of an early vibe check. Overall, I like the verbosity and personality of gpt-5.2-codex. I haven’t spent enough time with gpt-5.2-codex-max yet.
Family & Friends
Ibhan participated in his first inter-school under-8 chess competition this weekend. During the week, we practiced a few sessions with a timer, and the event itself was a first for both of us.
The tournament was managed through chess-results.com, where pairings, points, and rankings were updated live. It took me some time to understand the flow and scoring format. Ibhan won 4 games and lost 3. I later analyzed his performance with ChatGPT and learned more about Swiss tournament scoring: early wins and streaks matter because they determine stronger pairings.
After the final loss, he was a bit disappointed, but he still finished 10th, which meant an award and a certificate at the closing ceremony.
Workout
Managed 3 resistance training workouts, 2 morning Ashtanga Yoga sessions, and a cricket practice session for GPL.
