Set up OpenClaw on a Hetzner VPS, wrapped up GPL with a third-place finish, and dialed workouts down just enough to stay match-ready.

Explorations

I set up OpenClaw (formerly Clawdbot / Moltbot) on a Hetzner VPS and spent some time experimenting with it. Kudos to the team for packaging the gateway and agent harness so well.

It may not invent fundamentally new primitives, but the ingenuity in integrating everything into a usable system is impressive. I can imagine frontier labs wondering why they didn’t ship something similar earlier, and at the same time, I can understand why security considerations make open release difficult.

For now, I’m using it as an executive assistant and looking forward to testing more skills.

Family & Friends

Our GPL matches were scheduled through the weekend. We had already topped our group, but still had one match on Saturday and the quarter-final in the evening. We won both convincingly.

Sunday morning was the semi-final, which we lost. Our batting lineup collapsed, and the bowling didn’t fire. One of their batters was in sublime form.

That ended our title run. We still had one more game for 3rd place, which we won, and that wrapped up GPL for us.

This year, Mona and I participated together, which made the whole experience more fun. I didn’t do as well as I’d have liked with the bat, but I contributed decently in the field and picked up a few important catches.

Workout

I scaled down my workouts a bit to avoid injuries during the final GPL matches, but still got in 3 solid sessions and hit a few PRs.
